Our History
Established in 1905 and restored in 2013, the Hadlyme Country Market was founded by Lee Luther Brockway to serve travelers on Brockway Ferry Road. Originally a hub for hospitality and community, the market was moved to its current location at the corner of Ferry Road and Norwich-Salem Road in 1905, adapting to the rise of automobiles.
In the 1980s, Lisa Bakoledis began working at the store, eventually co-owning it with Susan Raible Birch. Together, they created a warm, welcoming space reminiscent of the 1900’s, leaving a significant impact on the market's success.
